It’s the start of the year and a great time to set your goals to establish healthy goals for the rest of the year. Good dental health has a huge impact on your overall health. Here are some tips for you to have a healthy smile in 2019.
Prevention. Schedule that dental exam and cleaning. Avoid getting cavities and gum disease by brushing and flossing regularly. Eat a diet low in sugars and acid.
Preservation. Tooth grinding may be caused by anxiety, sleep disorders, or an abnormal bite. Dull headaches in the morning, jaw muscle soreness or broken teeth may be a sign of tooth grinding. See your dentist if you think you may be grinding your teeth.
Restoration. Now is a great time to schedule any outstanding work that you know has to be done. Get those fillings, crowns, implants and dentures done to help maintain a healthy mouth.
Improvement. Start the year off with a bright smile. Tooth bleaching, veneers and improved tooth alignment or gum grafting are all options that may improve your smile. Call your dentist if you are interested in a cosmetic consultation.
Get a good night's sleep. Are you snoring or do you wake without the energy you used to? You can get help for snoring and you can improve the quality of your sleep in 2019. Call for a sleep consultation to check for sleep apnea. Get help with your snoring. If you don't like or don't use your CPAP machine, discuss whether a mandibular advancement device may be an option for you as an alternative treatment.
